Great FREE Remote Desktop Viewing Tool

I wanted to do a training session over the phone last week. I wanted to be able to see my clients screen while chatting with her over the phone. I needed to be able to see just what she was looking at and see what she was doing.  Historically, the firms I worked for or the my clients had a WebEx account. WebEx is a great product with many collaboration features. But what do you do if you're just a small or a solo like we are and only need this capability once in a while?  You research, of course.

So before I defaulted to buying that WebEx session I decided to hit the web and see what, if anything else, might be available and possibly free. When I Googled "free web conferencing" - WebEx came up as a sponsored link and as the first hit. Now, WebEx isn't really free, but it does offer a free trial and free web seminar. So I Googled on and found several other un-free products which seemed suitable but again, not free. I don't know why I was set on finding something free - I just couldn't believe that there WASN'T. Well, my gut was right! I found SkyFexFree.

SkyFexFree is a simple ONE-WAY desktop VIEWING tool. All the action goes one way. That is, one side does the sharing and the controlling while the other side can only watch. It was easy to set up and easy to use. Bummer that it's designed only for Windows and IE.  So, if all you're looking to do is view someone else's screen while you chat over the phone- this is for you and did I mention its free?

Hi, there are other free ways to connect to your computer remotely. Ultra VNC (http://www.uvnc.com/) is a prefect server-client application. And there are many available free extras for it, like VNC Control
(http://vnccontrol.hit.bg) which helps in managing multiple remote desktop connections.

To add, there's a lot more web conferencing sites out there. Some of them are listed on this address http://www.aboutwebconferencing.info. You might want to check it out and see what's the best web conferencing tool for you.
